New organisation structure enables Finance Finland to represent the sector and its members’ interests even more effectively

Finance Finland has adopted a new internal organisational structure as from 1 September 2026. Going forward, Finance Finland is organised into eight teams, which include the Management Team and seven additional teams based on specific expertise areas, each headed by a member of the Management Team.

  • Payments, Banking Regulation & Fraud Prevention, headed by Laura Welling.
  • Legislation & Non-Life Insurance, headed by Hannu Ijäs.
  • Public Affairs, Communications & Responsibility, headed by Tuomo Yli-Huttula.
  • Capital Markets & Asset Management, headed by Mari Pekonen.
  • Pension and Life Insurance & Preparedness, headed by Mikko Kuusela.
  • EU Affairs, headed by CEO Arno Ahosniemi until 30 April 2027 and Aurora Idänpää as from 1 May 2027.
  • Administration, headed by Finance and Administration Manager Marika Laaksonen.

In addition to the team directors, the nine-member Management Team includes CEO Arno Ahosniemi as Chair, Chief Economist Veli-Matti Mattila and Executive Assistant Johanna Wickström.

“The new organisational structure will support the implementation of our strategy. It is also more closely aligned with how the business operations of our members are structured, which helps us serve our member organisations even more effectively”, says Ahosniemi.

Finance Finland represents banks, life and non-life insurers, employee pension companies, finance houses, fund management companies and securities dealers operating in Finland. Its members also include providers of statutory insurance lines, which account for much of Finnish social security.

As of 1 September, Finance Finland employs 57 financial sector experts, including the CEO.
